Superaperitivo

RAT activated the gallery space with an architectural culinary landscape, turning the traditional aperitivo into a site-specific intervention. Food was conceptualized as temporary structural elements, functioning as independent art pieces in direct dialogue with Kimathi Mafafo’s exhibited works. This translated visual art into a tactile medium through materiality, texture, and composition. Structural towers of green focaccia mirrored the dense, organic weight of Mafafo's hanging textiles, while exhibition plinths capped with shiny olive oil pools reflected the artwork above. Delicate bites, from vibrant tapioca chips to crunchy polenta with baccalà mantecato, rested on mirrored surfaces, allowing the environment and art to merge into a living, multi-dimensional microcosm.
